'The JWB Collection':
This is from a set
of over 450 glass plates which were purchased by the site
owner in 1998.
The plates were found in a second hand bookshop in Dufftown,
located in the Highlands of Scotland.
However, as the entire collection consists mostly of images
of southern England and Europe, there is a possibility that
the images were either bought in England and moved to
Scotland, or perhaps that the photographer moved to Scotland
or retired there.
Unless someone can
come forward and identify the images or the people within
them, we may never know who it was that provided us with
this unique perspective of life after the turn of the 20th
century.

Other Images
Apart from 'The JWB Collection', the site owners have a
large collection of images from across the world.
There is also a selection of more contemporary images
which the owners have created by themselves. The images
have been 'retro-processed' to give the look and feel of
days gone by. |
